On Thursday, May 17 beginning at 7:30 p.m., Nicola Bulgari and the Carnegie Hall Notables—a membership and ticket program for music enthusiasts in their 20s and 30s—will host the Eighth Annual Notable Occasion with violinist Grazia Raimondi and Ensemble d’Archi Fenaroli conducted by Luigi Piovano, performing works by Britten, Mendelssohn, Puccini, and Bartók in Zankel Hall. After the exclusive concert, the Notables will gather at Remi for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The Eighth Annual Notable Occasion is generously underwritten by Nicola Bulgari. The evening will benefit music education in the New York metropolitan area by supporting the many music education programs created by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. Italian violinist Grazia Raimondi studied at the G.B. Martini Conservatory in her hometown of Bologna and the Chigi Academy in Siena before continuing her studies as a Fulbright Scholar at Indiana University. Ms. Raimondi has performed solo and chamber music concerts at prestigious venues including La Scala Theatre in Milan, the Concert gebouw in Amsterdam, and Royal Albert Hall in London and has collaborated with eminent musicians including Antonio Pappano, Luigi Piovano, Maurizio Baglini, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, and Francesco Di Rosa. She plays a 1783 Giuseppe Gagliano violin. Principal cellist of the Symphony Orchestra of National Academy of St. Cecilia and guest Principal Cellist of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Luigi Piovano has been enjoying a constantly growing international recognition both as a cellist and as a conductor. He regularly performs with Latitude 41 together with violinist Livia Sohn and pianist Bernadene Blaha. Luigi Piovano’s recordings have been released by such labels as EMI, Nuova Era, Opus 111 and Eloquentia. Luigi Piovano has been increasingly engaging himself as a conductor, and has held the post of Artistic Director and Conductor of the Musici Aurei since founding the ensemble in 2002 (under the name of “Campania Chamber Orchestra”). Other engagements of note as a conductor include the Tokyo Philharmonic String Ensemble, concerts in Thailand and with several Italian orchestras and two recordings. His most recent and future engagements as conductor include concerts in Rome, L’Aquila, Bari, Lecce, Taranto, Palermo and Seoul. In addition to his performing and conducting career, Luigi Piovano has served as the Artistic Director of the “Estate Musicale Frentana” in Lanciano since 2008. Conductor Luigi Piovano leads the Ensemble d’Archi Fenaroli, a chamber orchestra selectedfrom musicians of the prestigious Amici della Musica (Friends of Music) training program in Lanciano, Italy. For over forty years, Amici della Musica has invited talented young musicians from around the world to train at its International Summer Orchestra Courses during their annual summer festival, Estate Musicale Frentana. The Eighth Annual Notable Occasion is part of a series of annual special events offered for Carnegie Hall Notables members. The Carnegie Hall Notables, a membership and ticket program for music enthusiasts in their 20s and 30s, is an exciting and energetic community of young people committed to advancing music education and the arts. Through original events, discounted ticket prices to concerts, discussions with world famous composers and musicians, and music events throughout New York City, Notables members are invited to intimately experience the exceptional power of music. The annual roster of events is curated by the Notables Committee, a diverse group of artists, socialites, and entrepreneurs in their 20s and 30s led by co-chairs Jimmy Zankel and Cody Franchetti. Members experience all types of music, traditional, and contemporary. Contributions to the Notables support the vital music education programs and online programs of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, which annually serves over 350,000 children, students, teachers, parents, young music professionals, and adults in the New York metropolitan area, across the US, and around the world.
